A Snow Day

A snow day looks like a white down blanket
A snow day sounds like the TV on too loud
A snow day smells like nutmeg and cinnamon
A snow day tastes like snow ice cream and hot chocolate
A snow day feels like the grownups are ready for us to go back to school!

To the point!

It's been a long break,
There has been a lot of snow,
And the schools are all closed.

" Outside was a winter wonderland,
The snow glittered in the sun-light,
Icicles hung from trees
Children played, sang, and danced, in this wonderful winter wonderland. "

The God Awful Winter and The Unlucky Ice Skater

Polar Vortex Limericks

There once was a god awful winter
Nobody did get a splinter
they cancelled his flight
he got some frostbite
And still nobody did get a splinter

There once was a fantastic skater
Who fell through the ice like a tator
please pass the spice
she fell through the ice
And a shark just might have ate her

Some ideas...

Here are some links if you need some guidelines for writing your masterpiece:

Acrostic poem
and my super duper simple example:

S   some
N  nerds
O  only
W whistle

Limerick....  love

One of my favorites is a Haiku

You can do one with multiple stanzas...  oh the possibilities!

If you put kid poetry or writing poetry into google - there are lots of other sites.

Snow day

This is not a picture from this week, or even this year.  It is so cold that I wimped out from even going out to take a picture.  I will tomorrow.  This blog is established for the kids in our region to have a place to publish poetry about the weather we are experiencing.

enjoy...
